Multifaceted pianist ULRIKE GAATE from Germany is one of the few women in Europe who have committed themselves to boogie-woogie & blues piano


She received a classical music education from the age of four, followed by lessons in piano improvisation with Professor Herbert Wiedemann at the University of the Arts in Berlin. She has extensive experience in musical theatre, various creative projects with rock bands, as well as reading events with music. 


She studied “Blues, Rock and Pop Keyboard Techniques”, "Improvisation" and "Music Business" at the online campus at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA.


She won the C. Bechstein Award with her “Ulrike Gaate Trio”. 


To help amateur enthusiasts and the next generation of talent alike enter the fascinating world of boogie & blues piano she collaborated with outstanding German pianist and Steinway artist JOJA WENDT to produce “THE LITTLE BLUES & BOOGIE PIANO BOOK” which was elected “BOOK OF THE MONTH” by the publishing company Tredition.


In 2018 she published "SHE PLAYS BOOGIE-WOOGIE & BLUES PIANO"The book was also selected "BOOK OF THE MONTH".


She worked as a music agent for various musicians, including two years for 

Gottfried Böttger, TV pianist on Germany's first talk show "3nach9" and co-founder of Udo Lindenberg's Panikorchester, and three years for jazz, blues and gospel singer, composer and producer Janice Harrington, finalist on SAT1's TV Show "The Voice Senior."


For "Highlander" Adrian Paul from Los Angeles, USA, actor and star of the eponymous TV series and feature films alongside Christopher Lambert, she is active in the team of cultural workers "Musketeers" and organized for him in 2019 at the Ahrensburg Castle near Hamburg, Germany, the first European retreat on his project "The Sword Experience - Swords - Movies - Adventures".


Ulrike holds a PhD in sciences, with postgraduate studies in specialist journalism in the areas of science and culture and has extensive experience in booking and event management.

When she is not playing the piano, she works as a university lecturer.
